The Contagion Cube project uses a wearable cube with a Bluetooth radio and LED display to simulate disease transmission in a live setting. IDM visitors wear the cube as they interact with others and watch as the LEDs light up to indicate a susceptible state, exposure events, and an infectious state. This provides a more tangible way for people to understand transmission dynamics and disease modeling.

The Contagion Cube was a side project created through collaboration across software and research teams. It aims to provide a game-like way to reach out to the public with a demonstration of epidemiology and disease modeling. It was first unveiled at the 2018 Intellectual Ventures Lab Open House.
