Basil Bayati

Research Scientist
Basil Bayati did his Ph.D. work in Computational Science at ETH Zürich (Switzerland), with a Master of Science in Bioinformatics from Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg, Sweden, and a Bachelor of Science in Information and Computer Science from the University of California, Irvine. While part of the Computational Science & Engineering Laboratory, Institute of Computational Science, at ETH Zürich, a lab which focuses on developing computational tools for the study of complex scientific and engineering problems, Basil concentrated on numerical methods for stochastic processes with applications in chemical kinetics and biology. As such, he shared authorship of several papers related to that work, papers that have been published in such journals as the Journal of Computational Physics, the Journal of Chemical Physics and Mathematical Models and Methods in Applied Sciences. Basil’s current focus within IDM is on the development of numerical methods for the discrete, stochastic simulation of compartmental epidemiological models.
