Niket Thakkar received his PhD in Applied Mathematics from the University of Washington in March 2017. As a graduate student, he worked on a variety of nanoscale optics problems, using mathematical modeling and statistics in collaboration with experimentalists to guide the design of novel measurement techniques and nanotechnologies. His work has been published in journals such as Nature Photonics and ACS Nano, and he has received a number of awards including the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship, the Boeing Research Award, and the 2017 UW Graduate Medal.
At IDM, Niket works with the analysis and model usage group, creating statistical and machine learning models in support of measles erradication efforts. Outside of research, Niket plays soccer, reads, bikes, and searches for good Mexican food.
