Save the Date: 5th Annual Disease Modeling Symposium
Please save the date for the 5th Annual Institute for Disease Modeling Symposium to be held Tuesday April 18th – Thursday 20th, 2017 at the Hyatt Regency in Bellevue, WA.
The overall theme of this year's symposium is Seven Deadly Diseases. There will be talks and breakout sessions for Malaria, HIV/AIDS, TB, Pneumonia, Typhoid, Cholera, and Measles. Each year, estimated deaths due to each of these diseases range from on the order of 100,000 for some up to over a 1,000,000 for diseases such as HIV and TB. Taken together, these seven diseases represent the majority of the annual deaths from infectious diseases. These diseases each have distinct biological mechanisms, pathologies, and modes and networks of transmission, but there are useful learnings from the modeling of each that could apply to other diseases in this set.
If you are interested in giving a talk, please email Philip Eckhoff at firstname.lastname@example.org by December 1, 2016. IDM will cover four night hotel accommodations for all speakers only. For those interested in attending but not speaking, a registration link will be sent out in early 2017. IDM cannot cover the hotel accommodations for all attendees.
Scientific sessions will occur on all three days of the Symposium, and software workshops will occur throughout the three days as well during various breakout sessions. Additional information on the schedule and speakers will be posted at idmod.org/symposium
We hope you will be able to join us, and we look forward to a productive and fascinating set of discussions.
